Our new President

Since Obama has taken office I have become more and more open to him. When the thought of a Black President emerged I was scared. I was afraid that our country would fight back if he became our presdient. But now it seems like everyone has accepted it. He seems to know what he is doing and he seems to have our countries best interest at hand. I do not understand, however, what his intentions are for closing down Guantanamo. I do not know where he plans to put the people that are being held there. In my opninion it is not so smart to shut the detention center down. I think what would have been smart was maybe if he would have made the rules and stipulations a little tighter there. He could have just made it so people could not take pictures and videos of the prisinors. I do not know much about all of this but it really does not seem like a good idea.
On the other hand I really hope he pulls through on helping us out of this recession. I know that it is not going to happen over night but anything is better than nothing. I personally think that the millionaires and billionaires of our country should have to pay more taxes.
I also think that a great way of them helping us middle class and lower class people out, is that they should have an adopt a family charity. Most millionaires and billionaires go out and buy new cars and houses but why not help a less fortunate family out. Maybe pay their mortgage or two of their bills. Something small could go a long way and could really help a less fortunate family.
Obama is really going to have to prove to a lot of people that he can handle this. He has made a lot of promises that I hope he can keep. I am sure he will but I hope for his own sake he will. If he lets us down who knows what is going to happen.
Well that's all for today! Thank you!

Sincerely,
Shannon Grimm
